Did you know Dubrovnik's Old City is one of the locations used in the HBO epic drama series 'Game of Thrones'?
Dubrovnik is picture postcard perfect and lives up to its nickname of 'Pearl of the Adriatic'. With terracotta tiled roofs and stone paved lane ways and a rich assortment of Renaissance and Baroque structures within the imposing fortifications, it's like travelling back in time to the medieval ages.
A highlight when visiting Dubrovnik is a walk around the 'Old City' wall. A trek of 2 km (1.24 mi) gives you spectacular views of the harbour and on the seaward side the wall is 25m (82 ft) high. The path along the top of the wall varies in width from 1.5 to 5m (5-16 ft) and can be a difficult walk in the midday sun.
Dubrovnik is a popular cruise ship destination and an easy way to visit this UNESCO listed World Heritage Site. The main tourist season is from May until October with the hottest months being June and July with daily temperatures reaching 84°F/29°C.
